5 Ways to Make Your Life More Beautiful

When the sun comes out in Washington, you see people come to life. We live 3/4ths of our year in rain, clouds and fog. We try to maintain happiness by working out, even tanning or drinking away the days for some. There is something so special about a day like today. It brings us to life. People rush outside and run, walk, bike, lay around in warm clothes just to bask in the hint of sunshine! Today was that kind of day for me; I’ve been taking Valerian root for a few weeks so I’ve already been pretty mellow and happy more than usual. I went for a long afternoon run by my house and it was stunning out. Everyone smiling as you pass by, a lot of people out with their cameras and I saw a couple hawks as well as a couple bald eagles:) I have a couple pictures:

So much beauty.

Like the first quote that I started this blog with, saying if you ignore beauty, you will soon be without it, but if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you throughout your life.

This is very important to remember. Too many of us take the beauty that surrounds us or within us for granted…and we end up sad and depressed, we feel like something is missing. How do we make the most of the beauty within and around us? Here are a few ideas:

1. Let go of the need to compare your life to others. It’s really easy sometimes to look at other people and see their lives with envy. Envy is a very bad habit that we all need to get over. Every person has a different story and everyone has something different that makes his or her life what it is. Life is not a contest. Stay present that your life is exactly where it should be right now. You have the ability to create your own dreams. Try as hard as you possibly cannot to compare it to others. People always want what they don’t have and even when they get it, they then want more, which is a bottomless pit of unhappiness. Be grateful for what you have for what you appreciate then grows in value.

 

2. See yourself as your largest investment. This is important…the more time and effort you invest in yourself, the more love and life you preserve. When you stop caring about you body, your health, your relationships, all the good falls away. Remember that your body is perishable and in order to maintain that body you must invest in it mind body and soul.

 

3. Take Valerian Root. I only say this because I take it and it works wonders. It’s only been 3 or 4 weeks on it but I feel clear headed and amazing. It stinks like hell but I assure you it’s worth it…especially for us Seattleites that don’t get a lot of sun. This is a holistic approach to curing an overthinking mind, which causes anxiety. It’s also known to help you sleep better which is amazing.

 

4. When the sun is shining, workout OUTSIDE. Why not? You get some vitamin D in while working on upping your serotonin level. I feel that people who spend time exercising outside also can improve their mental health since you are surrounded by more trees, grass, sky and water which helps calm the mind.

 

5. Let go of being perfect. Perfectionism is one of my biggest character defects that I work on everyday.  There is no need to feel like you need to be anything but yourself. That is stressful. Know that whatever you do everyday will help the bigger picture. Don’t put a microscope on your body or your life because it tends to exaggerate things that aren’t even necessary to obsess over. Be present. Make daily healthy decisions. Work hard. But know that you are still wonderful no matter what.
