“Motivation will almost always beat mere talent” – Norman R. Augustine
Every decision we make starts with the motivation to try. You may know all the answers to the world but without laying your foundation, you have nothing. Everything we do in life starts with the decision to try and in putting in an effort, you guide your future into success.
1. Write your goals down- Often we have million dollar ideas racing through our heads, and thats exactly what they do. They race right through you. You need to write your goals down and put it on paper to make it real. When you write them down, it creates a goal that you can work towards.
2. De-Clutter your space- A messy space is a place where ideas die. When you have no organization over your life, you have unorganized thoughts which make things more difficult to work towards. Successful people have clear minds because they focus on their goals and disable anything that prevents this. When you clean, and through away things that you don’t need, you allow your space to be productive rather than cluttered.
3. Surround yourself with people you aspire to become- If you want to have something different or become someone you aspire to be, surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Treat the world like it is your classroom and in this, choose your teachers wisely. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, find someone who does this and follow suit. If you want an amazing fitness body, surround yourself with a trainer or fit friends, if you want to be smart, surround yourself with intelligent people. This can be applied to whatever you want.
4. Organize your finances- Whether you make $30,000 a year or $300,000 a year, the dollar amount means nothing unless you are financially intelligent. Live below your means, save as much as you can to accumulate money for your assets whether its buying a house or starting a business. Don’t waste money on petty things that you will forget exist in a few months. Don’t waste your money on liabilities you cannot afford.
5. Have a healthy body- A healthy body is important because YOU should be most important. Treat your body as an investment and remember that you are a perishable item and you must treat yourself as an asset in order to become one. Eating fast food, sitting on your bum watching television all day, and binge drinking all lower your life expectancy and waste years of life doing meaningless things. Exercise, sleep 8 hours, drink 8 glasses of water and treat food as fuel rather than emotional necessities.
6. Remember how precious your life is- Life is what you make of it. You can choose to go with the flow or you can choose to stand out and be different. We live in a world of education, technology at our fingertips and endless ways of social media to get our words across. WHat are your words? What is the purpose of your life? Resort back to step #1 and start writing down your goals and creating action behind them.
